- Accurate coordinates (stand at the spot when pinning, where safe and lawful)
- Clear photos that show the subject and its setting
- A short, searchable title
- Dial type and orientation
- Motto or dedication inscribed on the dial
- Whether the gnomon is intact

Sundials hide in churchyards and parks. A shared atlas gathers them into one discoverable collection.
